Capabilities

One of the largest differences between the XLT and Lariat variants of the F-150 is the base engine. The XLT features a 3.3 L V6 making 290 HP while the Lariat boats a smaller turbocharged 2.7 L EcoBoost engine with 325 horsepower. Both of these F-150 trims are available with the 3.5 L EcoBoost V6 engine that offers 375 hp and 470 lb-ft. If you want even more hp, go for the 5.0 L Ti-VCT engine. Featuring eight cylinders, this powertrain produces up to 400 hp. An electronic transmission system with 10 gear speeds is installed in the XLT and Lariat. This class-leading automatic transmission includes several all-new settings. For example, the Snow/Wet Mode optimizes traction on a slippery road. The EcoSelect Mode saves fuel in situations that require frequent stops and starts. Additionally, the traditional Tow/Haul Mode is included in the 10-speed transmission.

Utility

Installed only in the SuperCab, the rear door in the 2018 Ford F-150 XLT and Lariat has a 170-degree swing. Both models have the box side steps that facilitate entry into the bed, which is available with a spray-in liner. You can use the signature BoxLink to secure various attachments on the bed. LED lights generate bright illumination of the entire bed, including the rails and corners. Running boards and tubular step bars are some other exterior installations that offer extra convenience for entry and exit. The GPS navigation system in this multimedia platform includes colored maps with live feeds from SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link. A Wi-Fi hotspot is now included in the enhanced SYNC platform that offers next-generation applications. Every occupant in the XLT or Lariat can conveniently connect a smartphone, tablet, or laptop to the high-speed internet network. The AppLink and FordPass are also compatible with the SYNC suite. Optional in the Lariat, the B&O Play sound system includes 10 booming speakers that play songs on HD Radio or SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
